Case study: Computer Engineering for Babies
$94 to $1,960 monthly organic traffic
Computer Engineering for Babies was doing incredibly well at getting customers via paid ads, but their organic reach was nearly non-existent.
We implemented a National SEO campaign took them from $94 worth of estimated organic monthly traffic to $1,960.
Problem / solution
Computer Engineering for Babies blew up right out of the gates.
Their Kickstarter had a goal of $15,000, but had raised over $250,000 at its conclusion.
But once the hype had settled, they became reliant on reaching their audience with paid ads. We changed that.
The solution ↓
Find our audience
Thanks to their ads data, we quickly determined two ideal Personas, the engineering parent and the engineering student.
Be where they are
The engineering parents were looking for fun gifts for their children (or a friend’s child). This is where we found them:
- Backlink outreach to Top 10 lists
- Becoming a resource for baby registries
The students were all over Reddit, so we went there.
Optimize
Once we started seeing traction, it was all about optimizing the content for our audience and creating more of it.
Our approach ↓
Month 1
Who is our ideal persona?
Where are they?
What are they talking about online?
The first month was spent analyzing what we were ranking for and what we wanted to be ranking for.
Month 2 - 5
Knowing who our persona was and where they were was step 1. Step 2 was being there.
So we created our Reddit, HARO, and Buzzstream accounts and started getting after it!
We had a pretty tight monthly to-do list, including:
- Backlink outreach: 60/month
- Influencer outreach: 30/month
- 4 blog posts/month
- Reddit/Quora: 10 posts and replies/month
Month 6
In the 6th and final month of our agreement, we analyzed what was driving the most traffic to the website and optimized those pages.
SEO Reports
Take a peek inside our monthly progress
*In March of ’23 we saw a jump in traffic value, but this was determined to be the cause of us starting to post new content. Some of the content corresponded to the low-value keywords the site had already been ranking for (such as keywords for a specific product, which just so happened to have a similar name as our book). Once we started optimizing for our high-value keywords, the low value keywords started dropping in rank.
